I guess it has been about 52 years since I have seen most of you. As you know I left to join the Oxford Dominicans in ’57 where I finished High school and then went on to Sienna Heights where I got my BA in ’61.. I taught in various parochial schools in Flint, Pontiac, and Detroit areas. In the summers I attended University of Detroit where I received my MA in Education. I left Oxford in 1969 and traveled with a group of Migrant Workers to the Rio Grande Valley of Texas . I taught in the public schools there for 30 years. I raised my son, Carlos as a single parent. He has given me four beautiful grandchildren. The oldest just graduated from High School this year.

I retired in 2000 and came back to Michigan to be with my Mom. She passed away in 01 at the age of 93. My son came to live with me in Mom’s house in Owosso and from time to time we have had one or more of the Grandkids living with us. Shortly after Mom passed away I spent tow or three years traveling back and forth Michigan to Florida where I lived with some friends. I can’t quite bring myself to completely leave the classroom so where ever I am, here in Owosso, or in Florida, I manage to get in classroom hours doing substitute teaching.

A year ago I met my soul mate, Ernie Newcomb, and discovered that love can be found even later in life. We got married on July 31 and I live in Chesaning full time. We have all experienced so much over the last 50 years of ups and downs, joys and sorrows. There is no way to capture in a few paragraphs the drama of a lifetime. I know for myself it has been a wonderful life.

Not too many changes since 2009. I mean how could I top the getting married leap. We have seen the blooming of our “next generation” with the birth of 5 great grandbabies and another on the way. I have finally taken the step of complete retirement. No more subbing. We keep ourselves busy at our Senior Center in Chesaning. Check it out on facebook: Young At Heart Club, Chesaning. Can’t wait to hear more about the plans for the “55”.
