As many of you may remember, I entered the Adrian Dominican Order after my sophomore year in high school. After two years at Siena Heights, I had enough credits to begin my teaching career. My first assignment was at St Norbert’s in Inkster where I taught first grade for three years. My next move was to St Mary’s in Rockford where I had first, second, and third grade for three years. I then went to St Thomas Aquinas in East Lansing for another three years teaching first grade again. My last position as a nun was at St Suzanne’s in Detroit where I taught eighth grade for three and one half years. In January of 1972, I left the religious life and moved to Trenton. For one semester, I taught fifth and sixth grade at St John’s in Monore. In the summer of that year, I was hired by the Gibralatar School District and worked in various elementary grade levels until my retirement in 2003.
I met the love of my life, John Koebel, in 1974 and we married in 1975. We have resided in Carleton for the last 28 years. Our daughter Ann was born in 1978 and our son Christopher in 1980. As a family, we have spent many years camping and at the drag strip. Racing and cars in general have been a big part of our lives. Two years ago, John retired from Ford Motor Company where he was a hi-lo mechanic for 39 years.
